ScreenBee began as the screenwriting application Ray wanted for his own work. Writing Apocryphobia and Sentinel Hill meant living in screenwriting software every day, and none of it worked the way he wanted.
The name comes from home: Screen for the work, and Bee for Phoebe, Ray's nickname for his daughter.
It is now a working early beta with professional screenplay formatting, real-time collaboration and production features, together with advanced ways for writers to examine tone and emotional arc without generating their writing for them.
ScreenBee is designed around a simple principle: software should help writers understand and manage their work while leaving the writing to the writer.

The Story Graph
The whole screenplay as a visual canvas: act lanes, scene cards, and an emotional arc curve tracing where tension takes over and where resolution wins, scene by scene across the script.
Tone and mood, measured
Every scene gets a tone reading drawn from the writing itself: the closest mood, how warm or tense the scene runs, and the exact verbs and adjectives doing the work. It measures what the writer wrote. It never writes.
The Director's view
A prep surface for every scene: intended tone, blocking, subtext, pacing and visual references, layered over the script without touching a word of it. The notes travel with the scene through every edit and reorder.
An outline that cannot drift
The outline is read from the script itself, so it is never out of date. Structural overlays from Save the Cat to the Hero's Journey give the story a spine; lanes track subplots, arcs and themes; a timeline view shows pacing at a glance.

No AI in the Writing
ScreenBee never uses generative AI to write. No generated dialogue, no generated scenes, no autocomplete of prose, and no screenplay text ever sent to a model provider. Its diagnostic tools measure what the writer has written; they do not write it. That commitment is permanent, and it is the same principle that runs through everything Psybird Studios makes.
